Maher Husseini Obituary, Death – A tragic incident occurred in Houston on Tuesday when a Texas deputy constable, identified as Maher Husseini, was fatally shot at an intersection while en route to work. According to police, the shooting took place around 12:30 p.m. in west Houston. Husseini, who was driving his personal vehicle and had stopped at the intersection, was approached by a man who exited his own car and fired multiple shots into Husseini’s SUV.
Houston Police Chief J. Noe Diaz reported that Husseini was not wearing his uniform at the time of the shooting. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, with authorities investigating whether it was a targeted incident or a case of road rage.
Chief Diaz described the event as deeply upsetting, highlighting the tragedy of losing someone dedicated to public service. Husseini had been employed with the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s office since 2021.
Following the shooting, Husseini was rushed to a Houston hospital where he was pronounced dead. Constable Mark Herman expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating that the entire Precinct 4 team is mourning the deputy’s death.
Police are actively searching for the suspect, who is described as a man aged 35 to 40 with dark, thinning hair, dressed in a dark shirt and pants. The suspect was driving a charcoal grey Chevy Impala, which had a distinctive disfigurement on the bumper.
Governor Greg Abbott issued a statement condemning the crime and vowing that the full force of the law would be used to apprehend the suspect. He emphasized Texas’s commitment to supporting law enforcement officers who risk their lives to protect the public.
