Larry L. Cox Obituary, Death – A 70-year-old man was hit and killed early Monday morning on Route 3 south of Piasa Lane in Madison County. According to Madison County Coroner Stephen Nonn, the man, who was identified as Larry L. Cox from Madison, Illinois, was collecting aluminum cans in the northbound lanes of the road when he was struck by a GMC Terrain shortly after midnight. The collision resulted in his death on impact.
The driver of the SUV is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation, Nonn reported. A preliminary examination revealed that Cox died from blunt head and chest trauma. A routine toxicology test will be conducted as part of the investigation.
The Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit is also involved in the investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
