Vernon Cooper Obituary, Death – Over the weekend, a single-vehicle crash in Chilton County resulted in the death of a Birmingham man. The victim, identified as 57-year-old Vernon Cooper, was driving on Interstate 65 when the accident occurred. The crash took place near mile marker 213, approximately two miles north of Clanton.
According to state troopers, Cooper’s vehicle veered off the road, struck an embankment, and then overturned. Tragically, Cooper was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, leading to his ejection from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division is currently investigating the circumstances of the crash to determine what might have caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.
