Ryan Garbutt Obituary, Death – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office released the names of two officers involved in a fatal shooting that occurred on Monday night. The incident took place just before 8 p.m. at the Nordstrom Rack located at 9175 Southwest Cascade Avenue.

The officers involved in the shooting have been identified as Officer Ryan Garbutt, who has served with the Beaverton Police for 20 years, and Officer Juan Flores, who has been with the department for 11 months. On the day of the incident, Officer Flores was in his final phase of training under the supervision of Officer Garbutt. Both officers are currently on administrative leave as per standard department procedure.

The suspect in the shooting has been identified as 39-year-old Jacob Bundy from Portland. According to police reports, Bundy was observed by store employees stealing merchandise. As Bundy exited the store, the two Beaverton officers were approaching. The officers attempted to detain Bundy, but he drew a handgun. A struggle ensued, during which Bundy fired his weapon, leading the officers to return fire. Bundy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators revealed that Bundy’s gun and motorcycle were reported as stolen. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation into the shooting.
