Amirjon Ibragimor Obituary, Death – A man has lost his life following a multi-vehicle collision and subsequent tractor-trailer fire that resulted in the closure of a segment of Interstate 80. Brenda Shumaker, the Jefferson County Coroner, has confirmed that 30-year-old Amirjon Ibragimor from Langhorne, Pennsylvania, was fatally injured in the incident. Ibragimor was serving as the co-driver of a tractor-trailer that ignited during the crash. At the time of the event, he was located in the sleeper cab of the vehicle, according to Shumaker.
The tractor-trailer’s driver was transported to DuBois for medical care, as reported by Shumaker. A dispatcher from Jefferson County 9-1-1 indicated that the emergency call was received around 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, regarding what was initially described as a tractor-trailer accident near the westbound rest area on Interstate 80, located in Washington Township, Jefferson County.
Traffic is being redirected at mile marker 97 into Brockway, utilizing State Route 28, and rejoining I-80 near the Hazen exit. While multiple tractor-trailers were reported to be on fire, the precise number remains undetermined, according to the dispatcher.
It is also unclear whether a collision preceded the fires. Emergency responses were provided by Friendship Hose Company No. 1, Reynoldsville Fire Company, Sykesville Volunteer Fire Company, Pine Creek Township Fire Company, and various other fire companies from Clearfield County.
Additionally, DuBois-based State Police and Amserv LTD Dusan Community Ambulance were dispatched to the scene.
The interstate was reopened shortly after 6:00 p.m.
