Kevin Dignan Obituary, Death – Authorities have identified the man who drowned in the ocean at Pacific Beach early Sunday morning as Kevin Dignan, a 24-year-old from Austin, Texas.

According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office, Dignan was in San Diego visiting friends when the incident occurred. Around 3 a.m. Sunday, he and a friend were on the beach near Santa Rita Place and Lifeguard Tower 22 in the Pacific Beach area. They waded into the ocean and dove into the water.

While Dignan’s friend managed to resurface, he was unable to locate Dignan. The group eventually found Dignan several yards away on the beach, unresponsive.

Friends attempted to perform life-saving measures until paramedics and police arrived on the scene. Despite their efforts, Dignan was pronounced dead shortly after emergency services arrived.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has determined that Dignan’s death was accidental. The cause of death was drowning, which resulted from a cervical spine fracture due to a blunt force injury to his head and neck.
