Chase Higgins Obituary, Death – Rockford police are seeking public assistance in their investigation of a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday night near a busy shopping area. The victim, Chase Higgins, 27, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office.
The shooting took place around 11:15 p.m. on August 24 in a parking lot along E. State Street, west of Perryville Road. Officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of a shooting that happened during a large gathering in the area.
Witnesses have informed investigators that Higgins was involved in a confrontation with others before the shooting occurred.
